'Just One Time'
funny despite predictability
By Danielle Grossman

"Just One
Time" is a romantic comedy that is over-whelmingly predictable
yet surprisingly funny.
The film, which
is directed, written, produced and starred in by Lane Janger,
reveals what may happen when your fantasy is placed into reality.
The movie opens
with an introduction of a young couple, a fireman, Anthony
(Janger), and a lawyer, Amy (Joelle Carter of "High Fidelity"
and "The Horse Whisperer"), who are soon to be married.
Anthony's final bachelor request to his beautiful fiancée
is for the both of them to indulge his fantasy of participating
in a threesome with another woman.
Though Amy is at
first completely appalled by the idea, she eventually agrees
with conditions of her own, in hopes of deterring Anthony
from carrying out his request. Anthony must return the favor
for fulfilling his fantasy by getting together with his gay
admirer, Victor (Guillermo Diaz of "200 Cigarettes"
and "Girlstown").
The movie transpires
into a hilarious series of events as Anthony pretends to engage
in the gay-dating scene, dragging along his firehouse buddies
with him. While Amy spends more time with their lesbian neighbor,
Michelle (Jennifer Esposito of "Summer of Sam" and
television's "Spin City" and "Dracula 2000").
The action unfolds
as Anthony gets to experience the reality of having his fantasy
come true and the chemistry between the characters proves
to be a little steamy. The movie goes beyond your typical
threesome, bisexual adventure and transforms itself into a
comical enlightenment about monogamy for both hetero- and
homosexuals.
The movie is definitely
worth taking a peek at.
