COMING WEDNESDAY
The Long Beach State
men's club soccer and club surf team were in action over the
weekend -- and both teams came up with positive results.
Midfielder Dan Kolano scored four goals during the weekend as
the 49er soccer team swept two California League opponents.
The Beach beat Cal State San Marcos, 3-1, on Friday and routed
UC San Diego, 4-1, on Sunday.
The team is now 11-0-1 overall -- with a perfect 8-0 mark in
California League play -- and has positioned itself for a spot
in the National Championships in November.
The club surf team held the first ever Long Beach State Campuswide
Surf Contest Sunday in Huntington Beach to raise money for the
American Red Cross. Students, surf team members and LBSU alumni
were among those taking part in the competition.
Chad Wells, a surf club team coach, won the title, followed
by LBSU graduate Ben Will and surf club President Mike Reilley.
Complete results of these events with be published in Wednesday's
edition of the On-line Forty-Niner.
