Beach finishes

The Long Beach
State men's golf team finished fourth overall at the Cal State
Northridge Countrywide Home Loans Intercollegiate concluded
Tuesday at the Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley.
LBSU was tied with eventual champion UC Irvine atop the lead
after two rounds, but struggled as a team on Tuesday and fell
to fourth at 885. The Anteaters bested second-place Cal State
Bakersfield, 871-882.
The Beach got strong showings from juniors Robert Sul and
Tyler Mays, who both stood at five-under par and tied for
the individual lead with three other golfers after the first
two rounds.
But both golfers shot 81 on Tuesday and finished in a tie
for 16th-place at 220.
Beach junior Nick Seymour finished tied for 27th place with
a 224 (78-72-74).
UC Riverside's Brandon Hillpot won the individual title with
an eight-under 208 (69-70-69).
The 49ers next tournament is the Pacific Invitational at The
Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton Oct. 22-23.
