The Long Beach
State men's volleyball team, playing in the Can-Am Pre-Season
Tournament Friday and Saturday in Edmonton, Alberta, won three
matches in a row to close the weekend after losing its opening
contest.
The 49ers dropped a 25-20, 31-29, 25-19 decision to the University
of Saskatchewan early Friday before coming back to beat Western
Ontario University later that night, 25-21, 25-15, 16-25,
25-23.
The Beach opened play Saturday with a 25-23, 21-25, 25-21,
25-23 victory over the University of Alberta, and beat the
University of Manitoba, 17-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-21, 15-13,
Saturday night to finish the tournament 3-1.
The preseason tournament featured the top collegiate teams
from Canada and the United States.
