Long Beach State
women's golf team finished 11th out of 19 teams at the Oregon
State Shanico Invitational completed Wednesday in Corvallis,
Ore.
LBSU's Marie Louise Juul, who came into Wednesday's final
round only two shots of the lead, but struggled to an 82 to
finish in a tie for 10th overall with a seven-over 223.
But the final round couldn't diminish Juul accomplishments
in the tournament -- the sophomore shot 71-70 at the par-72
at Trysting Tree Golf Course to enter the final round at three-under.
Other 49er finishers included Heeyoung Cho, who closed with
consecutive rounds of 74 to place in a tie for 37th at 231
and Teal Thron finished in a tie for 60th with a 238.
LBSU, who transferred from Oregon State -- the tournament's
host -- shot 242 to finish in a tie for 71st.
Cal place first overall in the team competition, tying second-place
Arizona at 882, but taking the title based on best 5th player
score.
Arizona's Lorena Ochoa won the individual title, closing with
successive five-under 67s to finish with a 10-under 206 for
the tournament.
The 49ers next play in the Matador Fall Classic at Oxnard's
River Ridge Golf Club Oct. 22-23.
