More thoughts
on America and the world
Since this is my final
column of this semester, I want to take the time to clearly
state a few points.
Directly after the Sept. 11 attacks, I stated that America must
rid itself of enemies within its borders. I still believe this
today.
America is not a place for anyone in the world who wants to
be here.
Being allowed into the borders of America is a privilege, a
privilege that can be stopped or even taken away. It is not
a duty of Americans to allow non-citizens the right to enjoy
the gifts and beauty of America.
Previous generations of American men and women have fought to
make this country the dominant soul it is today.
It is, after all, the greatest nation in the world.
This is something that is not said enough. Many people around
the world are being trained to hate the United States.
Yet people of other nations do all they can to get to America.
I would dare to say that very few people do not wish to be Americans.
Those who come into our borders today as visitors or guests
have no bearing on our country as a whole. These people will
come and go, all the while America will remain the world's only
superpower.
The borders will be shut long before a time comes when America
is no longer a nation of strength throughout the world.
We must remember coming to America is not a right of all people.
It is not the right of any man. It is something America does
for the people in this world out of the kindness of heart.
Being allowed to step foot on American soil is a privilege,
one that may be taken away at any time.
