Financial help
available for students in need
I am eager to share
with our class of full-time freshmen information we have received
about the new Cal Grant entitlement programs. These entitlement
and competitive award programs may also benefit the younger
brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews of our current Forty-Niners.
Academic leaders throughout the California State University
system are working very hard to improve outreach efforts to
let students know that college is affordable. Currently, we
are enjoying a record number of first-time freshmen receiving
Cal Grant competitive awards. We want to continue to encourage
high school students to complete the Cal Grant application process
by the March 2, 2002 deadline.
We are also looking for first-time freshmen that have enrolled
at Cal State Long Beach without a Cal Grant who may qualify
for a financial award if they complete the application process
by March 2, 2002. High school graduates from 2001 can still
qualify for a Cal Grant entitlement award if they file a Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have a verified
high school grade point average submitted to the California
State Aid Commission by March 2.
Prospective students and their parents can receive additional
information from our Office of Financial Aid in Brotman Hall,
Room 123. The financial aid counselors are ready to assist all
of you in the accurate and timely completion of the application.
They are currently reviewing student files from our local area
high schools to locate students who are eligible for this wonderful
financial aid program.
Go BEACH!
