Let's finish
the semester off right
I don't know about everyone else, but I am so glad that we are
rapidly approaching the end of the semester. I hope that everyone
is doing well on their midterms and other exams. We are
all aware of how painful midterms and exams can be.
As we approach
the end of this semester, here are some things to be aware
of. First, get to know all of your instructors, and make sure
that visit during their office hours. If an instructor knows
you and is aware of your course goals, things might turn out
in your favor at grade time.
Second, get to
know at least three people in each of your classes and get
their names and contact information in case you are absent.
Maybe I need to take my own advice because God knows how many
times I've missed class. However, I have an excuse,
I have a very bad case of "last-semester-itus" or "senioritus."
Finally, make sure
to pass your current courses so you can plan next semester's
courses. Hopefully by then, I will be enrolled in Cal State
Teach, a teacher credential program that doesn't require class.
Everything is done over the Internet.
This brings me
to my next point. More classes at Cal State Long Beach should
be offered over the Web. I believe it is important to be in
class and interact with other students, but for people who
are on the go and burned out, there should be an alternative
to the regular classroom environment.
I get so tired
of going to class and sitting through lectures that probably
won't apply to my career or everyday life. Courses over the
Web would really benefit of lot of students because this may
prevent us from falling asleep in class.
As I close, try
to get something out of this college experience even if you're
bored out of your mind. Remember to have fun and get plenty
of rest and relaxation.
