Online shopping
By Tom Carey
On-line Forty-Niner
As the semester
comes to an end the holiday season also begins, bringing with
it huge crowds at the airports and shopping malls. It always
seems like everything is a bit more expensive during these
times.
However there are
ways to save during the holidays while in the comfort of your
own home. Online shopping can save buyers hundreds of dollars.
It also eliminates the stress and time it takes shopping through
the crowded malls and department stores.
Web site auctions
such as eBay.com and yahoo.com are considered the Mecca for
online shoppers. Buyers can find anything on eBay from digital
cameras to that obsolete toy no one can find in stores. If
it isn't on eBay, it probably doesn't exist.
Another great Web
site offering unbelievable deals is half.com. The Web site
offers used DVDs, books, CDs, video games, computer software
and trading cards that are listed by dealers and consumers
at prices that are nearly half off normal suggested retail
prices.
Amazon.com is very
much like half.com, except they offer new products unlike
half.com's used products.
Safety and getting
what you paid for is no longer a big concern with these Web
sites due to secure purchasing Web sites such as paypal.com.
Buyers have insurance from getting ripped off on Web sites
such as these.
Each seller on
eBay has a history and feedback that is viewable by each member
with a click of the mouse. When buying on eBay, all items
are tax-free and many have the "Buy-it-now" option of purchasing
before the auction is over.
For those who are
looking for a cheap way to fly home, there are inexpensive
ways to find flights. Expedia.com, travelocity.com and orbitz.com
are Websites that are easy to navigate. They also offer secure
purchasing with a credit card and seat assignments.
