University Police has a list of reports that informs the community of suspicious activity around the Cal State Long Beach area. The list can be viewed on the Internet at activitylog.upd.csulb.edu.

Car stolen from campus parking lot

•A silver 1998 Honda Civic coupe was stolen from Lot 14 sometime between 7 p.m. on Nov. 21 and 12:30 p.m. Nov. 25.

Auto break-ins continue to strike CSULB

•A portable Discman compact disc player and adapter was taken between 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 and 8 a.m. on Nov. 22 from a 1993 Honda Civic parked in Lot 16. The total loss was valued at $117.

•A red 1988 Toyota pickup truck parked in a lot outside of the Nursing Building was the target of an attempted auto burglary on Nov. 19 between noon and 5:15 p.m.

Nothing was missing from the car, but the lock was destroyed on the driver's side door. The estimated cost of repair to the door is $60.

This attempted auto burglary has been the third reported incident in the past two weeks where a car was broken into but nothing was taken.

According to University Police Sgt. Fernando Solorzano, auto burglars will most likely leave the vehicle if they feel a passer-by is within view of  the break-in.

"Most of the time, a burglar [will not take things from a car] because they're interrupted," Solorzano said. "If they see someone pass by, they get scared and simply walk away.

"Also, many times burglars will have in mind what they want to take," Solorzano added. "And for example, if they can't move a radio from inside the car, they'll just leave."

•Graffiti was written in black marker on a wall in the men's restroom located on the fifth floor of the McIntosh Humanities Building between 4 p.m. on Nov. 20 and 9:20 a.m. on Nov. 21. There is currently no estimate for the damage.
