University
Police has a list of reports that informs the community of
suspicious activity around the Cal State Long Beach area.
The list can be viewed on the Internet at activitylog.upd.csulb.edu.
Man arrested
on campus for multiple charges
Paul Elias Rodriguez was arrested by University Police Thursday
at approximately 5:50 p.m. on charges of vandalism, trespassing
and burglary.
The 21-year-old Hispanic male, who was later booked,
allegedly stole food from the Residence Commons Dining Hall
and dented the trunk of a new University Police squad car
parked in the lot outside of the dining hall. Rodriguez is
currently held on $5,000 bail by the Long Beach Police Department.
Auto burglaries
on the rise in CSULB parking lots
A 2000 Honda Civic was broken into in Lot 20 Friday between
3 and 11:45 a.m. A stereo with a compact disc player and 291
CDs were taken from inside the car. The total loss was valued
at $4,465.
A car stereo
valued at $120 was stolen from a 1971 Chevrolet Nova parked
in Lot 20 sometime between 6 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday.
The car
stereo of a 1996 Toyota Tercel in Lot 20 was stolen sometime
between 6 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday morning. The stereo
was priced at $300.
A
car stereo with a CD player valued at $350 was taken from
a 1997 Toyota Tercel parked in Lot 16 sometime between 12:59
a.m. on Nov. 11 and 11:45 a.m. Friday.
A pair of
sunglasses valued at $100 was stolen on Nov. 13 between 6:30
and 9:45 p.m. from a 1986 Chevrolet El Camino parked in Lot
16. University Police also discovered evidence of tampering
to the ignition, which indicated an attempted grand theft
auto.
A 2000 Acura
Integra parked in Lot 14, was subjected to of auto break-in
and an attempted grand theft auto last week sometime between
9:15 p.m. on Nov. 12 and 3:25 p.m. on Nov. 13. Although the
car was broken into, nothing was stolen.
The window
of a 1993 Toyota Camry parked in Lot 20 was smashed Friday
between 3 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. during an attempted burglary
of the car stereo. There is currently no estimate for the
cost of repair to the window.
Petty thefts
cause petty trouble
A backpack
and its contents, valued at $492, was stolen Thursday at about
2 p.m. from a storage shelf in the Physical Education Building.
A suspect
broke into the parking booth outside the Foundation Building
sometime between 7:15 p.m. on Nov. 12 and 7:55 a.m. on Nov.
13 and tried to steal money from the cash box but it had already
been emptied.
Staff members
of the University Library reported two missing broken laptop
computers on Nov. 13. The non-functional laptops had been
missing from a surplus room since about Sept. 1. There is
currently no estimate to the cost of the computers.
Vandalism strikes

An office
door on the eighth floor of the Macintosh Humanities Building
was the target of a misdemeanor act of vandalism.
A pornographic picture was drawn in black marker sometime
between 11:50 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. There is currently
no estimated cost to repair the door.
REMINDER: Renew
your license plate registration stickers
A 1993 Nissan
240SX parked in Lot 16 was impounded Thursday at approximately
12:55 p.m. for having expired registration tags on its license
plates.
