University Police
has a list of reports that informs the community of suspicious
activity around the Cal State Long Beach area. The list can
be viewed on the Internet at activitylog.upd.csulb.edu.
The number of
auto break-ins on the rise
The left rear passenger wing window of a car parked
in the Parking Structure was smashed and a Kenwood stereo
with a compact disc player, valued at $300, was stolen from
it on Nov. 1 sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
A $270 car stereo with a CD player was stolen
on Nov.1 between 2 and 6:45 p.m. from a 1991 Honda parked
on the second level of the Parking Structure.
A 1992 Saturn parked in Lot 20 was broken into
on Nov. 1 sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. The loss of
a CD player, valued at $200, was reported.
A car stereo and sunglasses, valued at $300, were
reported taken on Nov. 1 between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. from
a 1992 Mitsubishi in the fourth floor of the Parking Structure.
A 1997 Plymouth Neon parked in Lot 20 was broken
into and the car stereo, of unknown value, was taken. The
incident occurred on Nov. 1 between10:30 and 11:37 a.m.
A suspect broke into a 1987 Honda parked in the
parking structure and unsuccessfully tried to steal the car
stereo on Nov. 1 between 12:30 and 5:15 p.m.
Burglaries target
on-campus valuables
A student reported Monday that approximately 75
to 110 pills of prescription medication were taken from a
locked storage container in the Parkside Commons dorm room.
A pair of shoes, leather jacket and coat, valued
at a combined $220, was reported taken from the Theater Arts
Building Monday sometime between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
A computer, monitor and keyboard, valued at a
total of $1,200, was reported stolen from Library East. The
incident occurred sometime between 4:15 p.m. on Nov. 1 and
7:20 a.m. Friday.
REMINDER: Update
your license plate registration stickers
A 1999 Ford Windstar was towed from Lot 9 Saturday
at approximately 2:20 p.m. for having expired registration.
Wallet stolen
at Brotman Hall
A wallet and its contents, valued at a total of
$50, was taken from a purse on the third floor of Brotman
Hall on Nov. 1 between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m.
Vandalism strikes
the University Student Union
A derogatory statement was written in black marker
on a desk located on the third floor of the University Student
Union Friday.
Suspicious letter
scare people on campus
A professor reported an unexpected letter he received
Tuesday with a return address in Baghdad. Safety and Risk
Management responded to assess the item, which was later taken
for destruction.
Safety and Risk Management and University Police
responded to a suspicious letter received at the McIntosh
Humanities Building on Nov. 1. The letter was removed and
no later report was filed.
After the report of a suspicious letter in the
Dining Plaza, University Police and Safety and Risk Management
responded on Nov. 1. Safety and Risk Management held the letter
for safekeeping.
Safety and Risk Management and University Police
responded to a suspicious letter received at Brotman Hall
on Nov. 11. The letter checked OK.
