Power outage
By Tom Carey

For students with
classes in the Foundation Building, Monday was a lucky day.
A small electrical shortage was all it took for the power
to be turned off and the building evacuated.
Fire fighters, police officers, Southern California Edison
and risk management were called to the scene to assess the
damage and find out how the fire started.
An electrical shortage started in the mechanical room causing
the fire alarm to go off, according to Sgt. Jim Beaver.
Although there was no fire or any immediate damage, precautions
were executed properly.
"The fire marshals did a good job and everything worked
out right," Beaver said.
No idea of the damage was known at the time, but building
management and Southern California Edison were investigating,
according to Debbie Peurung, director of property administration
management.
"We thought it was better to shut off power to the entire
building until we know what started it," she said.
