T.E.A.C.H. event planned

By Dwight Flenniken III
On-line Forty-Niner

The Alumni Association and the College of Education will offer a T.E.A.C.H program on Tuesday Oct. 16. The event will be aimed at those who are currently studying to be teachers and those interested in teaching.

The goal of the gathering is stated in the title, "Touch the future, Enrich lives, Activate minds, Challenge yourself and Help others."

The meetings will begin at 7 p.m. with guests from the Alumni Association and the College of Education. Also on hand will be Deputy Superintendent Christopher Stienhauser of the Long Beach Unified School District.

At 7:30 p.m. elementary and secondary education panels will take place, moderated by current Cal State Long Beach students.

Three topics will be covered during the panel period: the path each panelist is taking in the field of education, the benefits of teaching as a profession and each individual's college experience at CSULB.

On the elementary education panel will be former CSULB alumni and current teachers, Theresa Hawk, Teri Lockerman, Judith Magsaysay and Wayne Wong.

Secondary Education Panelist will include Dalis Din, Gabriel Perez and Sharon Sorkin.

An open question and answer session will immediately follow the meetings.

The event will be held at the University Student Union-Long Beach Ballroom. Check-in will begin at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a dessert reception at the conclusion of the evening. To reserve a seat for the panels contact the alumni office. It is a free event and all CSULB students are welcome.
