T.E.A.C.H. event

The Alumni Association
and the College of Education will offer a T.E.A.C.H program
on Tuesday Oct. 16. The event will be aimed at those who are
currently studying to be teachers and those interested in
teaching.
The goal of the
gathering is stated in the title, "Touch the future,
Enrich lives, Activate minds, Challenge yourself and Help
others."
The meetings will
begin at 7 p.m. with guests from the Alumni Association and
the College of Education. Also on hand will be Deputy Superintendent
Christopher Stienhauser of the Long Beach Unified School District.
At 7:30 p.m. elementary
and secondary education panels will take place, moderated
by current Cal State Long Beach students.
Three topics will
be covered during the panel period: the path each panelist
is taking in the field of education, the benefits of teaching
as a profession and each individual's college experience at
CSULB.
On the elementary
education panel will be former CSULB alumni and current teachers,
Theresa Hawk, Teri Lockerman, Judith Magsaysay and Wayne Wong.
Secondary Education
Panelist will include Dalis Din, Gabriel Perez and Sharon
Sorkin.
An open question
and answer session will immediately follow the meetings.
The event will
be held at the University Student Union-Long Beach Ballroom.
Check-in will begin at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a
dessert reception at the conclusion of the evening. To reserve
a seat for the panels contact the alumni office. It is a free
event and all CSULB students are welcome.
