What can I do to help?

Students and faculty who wish to help the victims of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. may contact numerous groups organized to deal with large-scale disasters of this kind.

Those wishing to donate blood are encouraged to visit the nearest center.

  • Veterans' Affairs Hospital on Seventh Street and Bellflower Boulevard will be accepting donations. Veteran's Affair Hospital on Seventh Street. Interested parties are asked to call Debbie Ludke at (562) 494-2611 ext. 2823.

  • Alfa Therapeutic Corporation located at 1633 Long Beach Boulevard is currently accepting walk-in donors Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Friday through Sunday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call (562) 591-5324.

  • Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, 2801 Atlantic Avenue will be accepting blood donations. Call (562) 933-0808 for an appointment.

  • Red Cross Blood Donation Centers may be contacted at (800) GIVE-LIFE.
