Abracadabra:
tricks and laughs at CPAC
By Greg Smith
On-line Forty-Niner
The Carpenter Performing
Arts Center will play host Saturday to "It's Magic!,"
a comedy and magic show. The show begins at 2 p.m. and features
six different performers, each with their own different style
and energy.
Now in it's fourth decade, "It's Magic!" has been
entertaining Southern California theater goers with numerous
award-winning magicians gathered on one stage for an evening
of comedy, magical manipulation and full stage illusions.
"It's Magic!" is presented in association with the
Carpenter Center and the Magic Castle of Hollywood.
The Great Tomsoni and Company, aka Johnny Thompson and his
wife Pam, will be the Master of Ceremonies. Thompson takes
on the persona of "Poland's Greatest Magician" to
perform a parody of the serious magic performer. Thompson
is considered a virtuoso in all areas of magic and has been
awarded a Masters Fellowship in the Academy of Magical Arts,
magic's highest honor.
Tyler Knight, creator of the "Knightmagic" show,
will perform mind-blowing illusions, light-hearted comedy
and hypnotic dance.
Dale Salwak, aka "The Gentleman of Magic," is offering
a fast-paced, elegant presentation of the classics of magic.
Salwak was twice nominated for Stage Magician of the Year
at the Magic Castle and has been the featured performer at
top showrooms around the world and on numerous TV specials.
Comedian Derek Scott will be on hand to perform the skills
he's learned as a clown coach for the Cirque du Soleil in
Los Angeles.
The skillful manipulators Blackmore and Gold will be using
a great sense of humor as they twist otherwise familiar illusions
into their own unique comic "shapes."
Greg Wilson and his wife Lyuda will be closing the show. The
Wilson's perform a fast-paced style of illusion aided by a
lifetime of experience in theatre and dance.
