The world's largest jack-o-lantern, Smilin' Jack, shown in relation to Public Affairs Representative Andy Perez, a five foot nine inch man, is created on 3 million gallon storage tank at the Tosco Los Angeles Refinery in Wilmington. Over 100 gallons of paint are required to cover the massive tank that has been painted every Halloween for the past 49 years.

  • 49ers close Big West action with win
    Sophomore Sarah Aguilar's first goal of the season was the difference as the Long Beach State women's soccer team closed out its Big West campaign with a 2-1 win against Utah State Sunday afternoon in Logan, Utah.

  • Cross country season ends at Big West meet
    The season may be over for most of the Long Beach State cross country team after this past weekend, but the way the season progressed is indicative of the positive direction the program is headed in.
