    The long journey to the top of the Big West kicked off for both the men's and women's basketball teams Friday night during Midnight Madness, when more than 2,000 fans welcomed the teams at The Pyramid.

    Using a $44-per-semester fee tacked on to the cost of tuition, the Associated Students Inc. financially supports organizations that promote awareness, ideas, academics, opportunities and the overall well being of students.

    An audience of close to 50 people listened intensely Thursday night to short-story writer and novelist Aimee Bender's tales about the institutions of family, feelings of love, childhood and identity.

  • Murphy's goal clinches Pacific win
    Junior Marisa Barragan scored a goal and added two assists to lead the Long Beach State women's soccer to a 4-1 victory over University of the Pacific Saturday afternoon at George Allen Field.
  • Runners place high in Las Vegas meet
    The dice rolled in favor of the Long Beach State women's cross country team Saturday at the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas, but things were not so lucky for the men's team.
  • 49er win streak hits six in a row
    The Long Beach State men's water polo team stretched its winning streak to six in a row this weekend with wins over UC San Diego and the University of Massachusetts.
  • Road yields weekend split for The Beach
    The courts of the north did not treat the Long Beach State women's volleyball team well this weekend, as it struggled in a loss to Stanford and held on to beat Idaho to split the two road matches.
