The Long Beach State men's water polo team went 2-2 to finish in seventh place at the Men's Collegiate Water Polo Southern California Tournament this past weekend.

Juniors Chris Segesman and Scott Miller dominated play with three goals each to lead the 49ers in an 8-3 win over UC Santa Barbara in LBSU's first match Saturday. Miller, a transfer from UCSB, was competing against his former teammates.

The 49ers lost their second game Saturday to UCLA, 13-6. LBSU trailed 9-5 by halftime, and was shutout in the third quarter by Bruin goalie Brandon Brooks, who posted 12 saves in the game. Nathan Allard led the 49er offense with three goals.

The Beach opened Sunday action with a 14-6 loss to UC Irvine in the tournament's consolation semifinal. The No. 2 ranked Anteaters led 4-0 by the end of the first quarter and never let up. Segesman and Jewell each had two goals for the 49ers in the loss.

Miller, Segesman and Jewell each scored twice in LBSU's final game Sunday, a 9-7 victory over University of the Pacific. The win earned the 49ers seventh place in the tournament.
