reacts to recent article
I am extremely
troubled by the headline and sub-headline, which were
apparently written to sensationalize your November
21 Daily Forty-Niner status of our Center for Entrepreneurship.
As a matter
of fact, Cal State Long Beach is NOT 20 years behind.
The curricula IS up-to-date.
I joined
the College of Business, in the summer of 1999, to
continue and finalize their plans for establishing
a Center for Entrepreneurship. This I have done.
I have
also helped to highlight those parts of the business
school curriculum dealing with the inter-disciplinary
aspects of Entrepreneurship.
As a result
we now offer four separate courses that identify the
processes of Entrepreneurship to our students.
A well
established fact is that we can not teach someone
to be an entrepreneur, but we can provide the student
the management tools that should be used to help assure
a successful new venture start-up or in creating a
new business entity within an established corporation.
