Letters:
Open your
hearts to the planet
Julia Butterfly
Hill brought her message of how we too can become
leaders and not followers. Hill is a dynamic and makes
her listeners search their hearts.
It is a
shame that most of society goes through a lifetime
and never finds their own heart. Julia shows how an
individual can make a difference by not giving up.
Throughout
history individuals have made impacts changing the
world. There is not enough space in this paper to
properly list all individuals that have made impacts,
but I'll try a few. Do you believe Jesus made an impact,
or his opposite, from a later time, Adolph Hitler?
How about
Martin Luther King, I guess he did not make an impact
either. How about more current individuals that are
sorely missed; John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison,
Janis Joplin or Jimmi Hendrix. The list goes on and
on and on.
From politicians
to athletes to artists, media sells sex. I say turn
off those vehicles of control and be free within your
self. Everyday we have to wake up in a world that
becomes faster by the second, but it is the present
decisions that create the future. We need to stand
up for our environment, for this planet is an island
that holds life for the whole galaxy.
In my opinion,
movements start with individuals and slowly build
up energy. It only takes one person to stand up and
others will stand up as well. Yes it is politics that
rule, but we the people have a chance in November,
and every four years to make an impact on politics.
Politics cannot hold back the human spirit, so vote
with your heart and take action that brings a better
future.
The bottom
line is that you must awaken that part of yourself
that loves this planet, and act upon it.
Everyday
you make decisions that shape the future. Look at
your true self and feel the power of knowing you are
trying the best you can, and that is all I am asking.
Thank you
to all the individuals that stand up to be heard loud
and clear, and special thanks to the butterfly that
would not leave Luna, or the last 3 acres of redwood
forests here in California. They all have made this
planet a better place, and have blazed a tail for
more leaders to trek.
