Theft at KBEACH station reported

By Chris Ledermuller
Daily Forty-Niner

A guest of the KBEACH online radio program "Intoxicated Flow" had a Tag Heuer watch, MP3 player, memory discs and case stolen late Monday afternoon.

Greg Pascal, records and communications supervisor for the University Police, said the sports watch and MP3 gear, valued at about $675, were stolen from an unattended backpack at the K-BEACH studio between 5:45 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.

KBEACH's adviser, John Trapper, said he was not at the studio during the time and that the student hosts are ultimately responsible for the guests on their individual programs.

"The nature of the station is to allow free-spirited creativity," he said, which included hosts bringing guests on their shows.

But with Monday's incident, Trapper said rules at KBEACH are changing.

"We're going to have to enforce limitations on guests," he said. "It's going to have to be prearranged. And if any incidence like this happens again, we'd have to suspend the program."

Trapper said the guests in the studio during "Intoxicated Flow" were not Cal State Long Beach students.

Pascal has descriptions of three people that may be in connection with the incident.

One is a dark-skinned 5-foot-1 inch male with a thin build, brown eyes and was wearing a blue cap and blue New York Yankees sweatshirt.

Another is a black, 5-foot-9 inch male, weighs approximately 130 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a gray sweatshirt.

The third male is an Asian male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs approximately 145 pounds, has a shaved head and brown eyes, and was wearing a black sweatshirt.

University Police has not yet determined whether these three males are suspects, witnesses or not connected with the theft.

Alan Hall, the host of "Intoxicated Flow," was not available for comment.

This marks the second incident of theft at KBEACH. Earlier this year, Trapper said record player needles were stolen from the online radio station's offices.
