Former Cal State Long Beach president and U.S. Representatives incumbent, Republican, Steve Horn has less than a 6,000 vote lead on CSULB instructor, Democrat, Gerrie Schipske with 5.28% of the precincts reporting.

In the race for the 54th District for the State Assembly, CSULB professor and incumbent, Democrat Alan Lowenthal is ahead by just under 4,000 votes with 10.51 % precincts reporting.

Lowenthal is leading with 20,303 with Republican Rudy Svorinich Jr. who has 16,322.
