No new leads in abduction case

A two-month investigation on the attempted abduction of a woman on campus has yielded no progress, according to University Police.

About 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 25 two male suspects attempted to abduct a woman by Lot 4 in Upper Campus at the West Turn. The victim was waiting to cross the street when the passenger of the vehicle got out and grabbed her. She was able to break free and ran to notify the police, according to campus police. The victim is an employee of an on-campus business.

There has been no arrest in the Cal State Long Beach case.

"We felt the time of the day, location and with the number of people around that there would have been witnesses to bridge the gap and resolve the case," said Capt. Stan Skipworth of University Police. "We simply haven't had anybody come forward with helpful information."

University Police started an investigation in September, which included looking into other related incidents around orange County, most notably a sexual assault incident at Cypress College on Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. Cypress campus police have no arrest in the case.

"The descriptions [of the CSULB suspects] sound familiar but it does not match the one for ours," said Marc Posner, a spokesman for Cypress College.

one of the suspects in the CSULB attempted abduction is a black male 18-to 25-years-old with shoulder-length hair in braids with white beads at the end. He is approximately 5-feet-10 inches tall with a muscular build and a thin mustache and goatee.

The other suspect is a brown male in his early 20s with a shaved head and a small Fu-Manchu-type mustache and goatee.

University Police is seeking assistance from anyone who has further information on the case. Contact campus police at 562-985-4101
