The end
of October is near and the seats for the Associated
Students Inc judiciary have not been appointed.
Senior
Terence Pickens, who has served as Chief Justice the
past three years, said the schedules of the Judiciary
members and A.S.I. President Robert Garcia has been
conflicting.
"We
initially met, but the president requested individual
meetings with each of us, and this is where we are
now," Pickens said.
The A.S.I.
is in the middle of all the interviews and have more
this week, Garcia said
"Our
goal is to be done by the end of the week," Garcia
said. The judiciary normally is set late in the fall
he added.
Garcia
also said there has not been much interest this year
in the student senate. The judiciary has not been
very active prior to last year.
Pickens
said A.S.I. should not be operating, due to the fact
it is a tri-party system.
"To
operate without the third party is to operate incorrectly,"
Pickens said. If anyone were to file a case there
would not be anyone to hear it.
The last
time the process took longer was during the former
president Christy Zamani administration.
"President
Zamani got sick and the Judiciary was appointed the
day before finals," Pickens said. "We need
legislation to ensure that this never happens again.
