A
former Cal State Long Beach employee who was arrested
over the summer is scheduled to have a pretrial hearing
Friday.
Roger
McGookin, who worked at the CSULB special education
clinic, was arrested in July at his Fountain Valley
home on six felony charges, including five for lewd
conduct with a minor, and one for distributing pornographic
material to a minor under 14 years of age, according
to public records.
"A
student that was in the clinic had complained to her
parents," said Capt. Stan Skipworth of University
Police. "The parents filed the complaint and
the district attorney decided that they should pursue
charges."
McGookin,
63, is not known to have had a previous record prior
to this incident, Skipworth said.
The
pretrial hearing, scheduled to be held at the Long
Beach courthouse, will assess the case, evidence and
project the time length of the court process, Skipworth
said. During the pretrial hearing a plea bargain could
be discussed or the official court date will be scheduled.
