Abduction
attempt first in CSULB history, police say
By Chan Tran

The attempted
on-campus abduction Monday was the first of its kind
to occur at Cal State Long Beach, according to Capt.
Stan Skipworth of University Police.
The incident
occurred near Lot 4, when two male suspects attempted
to pull an unidentified female on-campus worker into
their car.
"I
don't know of another incident like this that has
occurred," Skipworth said. "There have been
other reported incidents, not in our area, that we
can investigate."
At this
point, Skipworth said campus police have "not
developed additional information on the suspects"
or "any information on other witnesses."
The information provided by the victim will be used
by other agencies that have had similar incidents
to solve the crime.
"It's
going to be a very good case of catching the suspects
because the victim notified the police and had excellent
description of the vehicle, suspects, and the incident,"
Skipworth said. "When we have this much information
we have a great opportunity to solve it."
Regardless
of the outcome of the case, Skipworth said, it was
beneficial that the victim removed herself from the
area and immediately notified police.
When contacted,
the Long Beach Police Department did not have further
information.
