Fans,
what could possibly be worse than watching World Championship
Wrestling's "Thunder" on television? Being
there live.
"Thunder"
was taped at the Long Beach Arena Tuesday night and
though the event lasted over three hours, it featured
less than an hour of wrestling and interviews.
"Big
Papa Pump" Scott Steiner basks in the glory of
his opening match victory.
The
bulk of time was filled by the WCW's production making
adjustments, DJ Ran warming up the crowd with music
and dancing from the Nitro Girls. The latter two were
the only times the fans made any noise the entire night.
"Primetime"
Elix Skipper, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Lance
Storm and Major Guns, left to right, stand for the
Canadian national anthem.
"The
Chosen One" Jeff Jarret suplexes Sting, above.
The
rest of the evening the tepid crowd chanted "boring"
and threw debris into the ring. The fact that the arena
was one-third empty did not help WCW's cause.
REVIEW
What
a waste of time and money for a show that will mostly
end up on the editing room floor.
"We
should just wrestle," said WCW wrestler "That
'70s guy" Mike Awesome, before he and Crowbar
wrestled Mark Jindrak and Sean O' Haire.
Good
advice. WCW, follow it.
Until
next week, fans, keep watching.
