L.B. gets art grants

The Los Angeles County
Arts Commission announced $1,607,000 in grants for fiscal year 1999-2000
to be awarded to 154 nonprofit arts organizations.
The amounts are up
from last year when $1,269,000 was awarded to a total of 115 groups.
The largest portion
of the grant, $705,000, went to mid-size organizations with annual operating
budgets between $100,000 and $800,000. These include the Long Beach
Opera, the Long Beach Museum of Art and the Long Beach Symphony Association.
