'Inspector Gadget' go, go, goes to theatres

Riding on the coattails of the popular cartoon, Walt Disney brings animation to the screen in this summer’s new family comedy, “Inspector Gadget.”

The aspiring security guard, John Brown (Matthew Broderick), who is also a police officer wannabe, is a naïve guy with a warm heart.

These characteristics combined with his passion for a robot scientist, Dr. Brenda Bradford (Joely Fisher), brings to life the next wave of law enforcement.

Inspector Gadget comes equipped with thousands of gadgets that answer to a single command “go go gadget.”

But, failure to read the entire operation manual often puts the raw police officer in dangerous situations.

And with the help of his smart-mouth talking “Gadget mobile” (voice by D.H. Hugley), the inspector helps fights crime and evil in Riverton City.

During the movie’s 80 minute running time, Inspector Gadget must solve a murder case and save the world from the evil Claw (Rupert Everett).

Computer graphics and digital imaging allow Inspector Gadget’s limbs to extend, head to elongate and fingers to function as a cellular phone, lighter and much more.

“Inspector Gadget,” rated PG, is your basic good guy saves the day and gets-the-girl family comedy with a twist of ‘90s humor attached.

Audiences of all ages will walk out laughing and humming that catchy theme song.
