Long Beach State finished 43rd in the nation
out of 300 schools, in the 1998-99 final Sears Cup standings, which was
released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics
office.
The 49ers are tied with Iowa in the ranking.
According to Steve Janisch, director of
athletic media relations, the 49ers received points for its championship
title in women’s volleyball and the second place title in men’s volleyball
as well as baseball and softball whose teams both went to the NCAA Regional
competition.
This year Stanford ranked first capturing
their fifth Sears Cup.
