Although their season is over, the Cal State Long Beach Rugby team is still holding light practices twice a week and encourages all interested to come out and get an early start on learning the game for next season.

The 49er club team, which finished last season with a league record of 3-5, will be practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the middle of May.

According to Coach Doc Toohey, this is the best time to come out and learn the game because the practices are light and new players can ease their way into the system.

The club will be holding its annual alumni game May 11. Non-league play begins during the fall semester and the league begins in the spring. teams in CSULB's league include Arizona, Arizona State, UC Santa Barbara and San Diego State University among othe rs.

"Its a very competitive league," said Toohey. "Nobody gets cut so its a chance for people to come out and be part of a team and an experience."
