The Cal State Long Beach Softball Team swept the UC Santa Barbara Guachos 6-0 and 1-0, in a doubleheader Saturday at the 49er Softball Complex.
The 49ers were led by Amy Miner, Marie O'Beck and Tammy Dietrich, who combined to shut out the Guachos. The threesome held the UC Santa Barbara to only seven hits.
Miner, a junior, tossed a complete game allowing only four hits, striking out eight and walking none. The right-handed Miner is 12-4 in the season.
Offensively, the 49ers were led by designated hitter Jessie Martinez who was 3-for-4 and first baseman Amanda Adams, who slammed a two-run homer in the bottom of the third.
In the latter game, freshman Melanie Muniz batted in the only run for the 49ers, scoring sophomore outfielder Amber Griego with one out in the sixth on a sacrifice fly.
O'Beck pitched three innings giving up two hits and Dietrich, who earned the win, gave up one hit and four innings.
The 49ers (27-16, 15-5 conference) moved into first place in the Big West by winning 20 of their last 24 games.
