Associate Students Inc. President Carl Kemp has been reelected for 1996-997. He received 1,662 votes, defeating Alvaro Castillo by 507 votes.

There will be a runoff election for vice-president between Michael Barrett and Celine Cordero.

Barret, the former A.S.I vice-president received 1,035 votes and Cordero, a former Sen.-at-large, received 1,090 votes.

Ernie Solis will be A.S.I treasurer after running unopposed. Tyson Chaney, Naomi Rodriquez, Sandra Avila, Anjelika Carillo, Jaime Arenas and Nicole Drake have been elected to fill the six Sen.-at-large spots.

Chaney received 1,014 votes; Rodriquez 1,400; Avila 1,025; Carrillo 979; Arenas 970 and Drake 858 votes.

The referendum to raise students fees by $10 per semester was defeated, with 1,722 votes oppose and 652 votes in favor.

This year's voter turnout was the second highest in five years, with 2,374 ballots cast.

Broken ballot-counting machinery meant the ballots had to be counted by hand three times before they could be accepted, delaying official results until Thursday night.
