Dave O'Brien
Dave O'Brien, Cal State Long Beach athletic director, announced his resignation Wednesday. He has accepted the position of athletic director at Temple University in Philadelphia.
During the five years that O'Brien served as the athletic director, CSULB gained national championships and competitive records in men's and women's basketball, men's and women's volleyball, baseball and softball.
O'Brien, 39, was involved in planning, construction and funding of new athleticfacilities, including The Pyramid, Blair Field, softball field, track and tennis courts.
"During the years Dave served as A.D., Long Beach has become a rising power in sports and I believe he is largely responsible for that achievement," said CSULB President Robert Maxson, "Dave is a truly fine individual and hi work here has been outstandin g."
Maxson is expected to announce his appointment of an interim athletics director Monday, March 11, university officials said.
