The Cal State Long Beach admission process now features a multimedia pitch on CD-ROM, titled College View, for prospective high school applicants .

This latest addition to the traditional forms and diskette-based applications, will enable applicants view the facilities, programs and services offered by the university before making their commitment.

It opens with a presentation by CSULB President Robert Maxson and includes 40 multimedia clips of general information about the university.

Fay Denny, associate director fo admissions, said the programs went into circulation in November after the conclusion of negotiations with its developers , the College View Corp.

She said already it has been distributed to 500 high schools.

Applicants are expected to fill out and transmit their applications to the College View Corp., which then makes transcripts available to the university.

The process is at present geared toward high school students bu will expand to include transfer students from community colleges, Fay said.

She added that the process was designed to bring the admissions process into the computer age with students applying through the World Wide Web of the Internet.

Denny said Jennifer Louie, a senior from Clear Lake High School in Lakeport, Calif. was the first recorded applicant through the new process.
