Millennium celebrations across the Southland

For those having trouble figuring out what to do for New Year's Eve, here are a few of the events taking place in the Southland.

Swinging salsa 

The Promenade in downtown Long Beach will be hosting "Into the Millennium: New Year's Eve on Pine Square 1999" from 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

Sponsored by Mum's Restaurant, the event features salsa, swing and blues bands. The event includes a fireworks display. Admission is $50. For more information, one can call (562) 437-7700.

Cruisin' to the new year

A four-hour cruise around Los Angeles Harbor, "Millennium Party Cruise," will leave Goldenshore at 9:30 p.m.

The party includes an international gourmet dinner, live music and champagne. The cruise will also travel around the Queen Mary, allowing passengers to witness a firework's display.

Admission is $250. To make a reservation, one may call 1-800-228-2546. 

Disney fireworks

Disneyland will be offering extended park hours during the New Year's celebration. The theme park will be open from 8 a.m. on New Year's Eve to 3 a.m. on New Year's Day.

Events include a fireworks show at midnight, a Christmas parade and various stage shows.

Admission is $49 for adults and $29 for children between the ages of 3 and 16. For information, one may call (714) 781-4560. 

Berry much fun

Knott's Berry Farm will hold a two-day millennium celebration, featuring a midnight fireworks display and a performance from a Christian band.

The event will start at 7 p.m. on New Year's Eve  and end at 2 a.m. on New Year's Day. Knott's Berry Farm will open again at 11 a.m. on New Year's Day.

Admission is $35 on Dec. 31 and $25 on Jan. 1. For more information, one may call (714) 220-5220.

Music and magic

The Golden Dragon in Chinatown will be holding "New Year's Eve: Millennium Family Party" from 7:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on New Year's Day.

The event includes a six-course dinner, music, magic shows, and a midnight celebration.

The price is $125 for adults and $50 for children under 15. For reservations, one may call (323) 721-0774.
