Various Cal State Long Beach sororities
joined together to collect dry cleanable clothing for the Salvation Army.
The event was sponsored by Dryel Clothing
and Panhellenic council.
"The day before [the organizations] were
at San Diego State, they had more participants than we did, yet we had
more clothes," said Marijane Galusha, Student Life and Development coordinator
and Panhellenic adviser.
Clothes were gathered last Wednesday and
picked up by the Salvation Army.
Sigma Kappa collected the most clothing,
beating five other sororities.
"They did a great job collecting clothing,
under the circumstances of changing officers, and so near the end of year,
they really did a great job in giving back to the community," Galushu said.
Points were awarded for each piece of clothing
and the organization with the highest amount won $150.
About 3,000 articles of clothing were donated
to the Salvation Army by the end of the competition. |
