The women's basketball team is taking a
well-deserved rest for a few days in preparation for a Sunday evening game
against Pac-10 member Oregon State at The Pyramid.
The women spent the Thanksgiving weekend
in Hawaii at the annual Rainbow Wahine Classic, where they won a game against
Virginia Commonwealth and dropped two while playing against non-conference
teams such as the University of Texas and Grambling State.
The women are now 2-2 on the season, with
49er center Rhonda Smith leading the way by averaging 20.3 points, 8.8
rebounds and 21 blocks through four games.
Forward Kesha Wade is averaging 11 points
per game on 55 percent shooting from the field and 4.5 rebounds in 21.3
minutes per game average.
As a team the 49ers are averaging 65 points
per game while opponents are averaging 69.3.
However, opponents are shooting only 35
percent from the field and 28 percent from behind the 3-point line.
