Cal State Long Beach student Rebecca Green
always dreamed of becoming a contestant on the TV game show "The Price
is Right."
On Thursday, thousands of viewers watched
her dream come true as she was one of the competitors on the show.
"I watched all the time when I was a little
girl," said Green, a sophomore. "It was a fantasy watching it become real."
Green, 19, was in disbelief when she heard
the announcer say, "Rebecca Green come on down." She was even more surprised
when won more than $6,000 in prizes.
"I freaked out," Green said, describing
her name being called.
Although the episode aired last week, the
actual taping of the show was in September.
Green was the third contestant called from
the audience to compete in "Contestants' Row."
During this part of the show, participants
have to guess an item's value.
The contestant who guesses the closest
value, without overestimating, is allowed on stage to play another game
for prizes.
After correctly estimating the value of
a grandfather clock worth around $2,000, Green was the first contestant
chosen to go on stage.
Green played "The Golden Road," and was
given a chance to win a vehicle worth about $58,000.
She won the first two prizes, a $400 cabinet
and catamaran for around $4,000, but could not win the grand prize.
She plans to sell the prizes for tuition. |
