Gaming debts erased

Craps!

Seven out.

Now you're down $1,300 in online gambling debts.

The beauty is that most courts will not force you to own up to your debts.

Apparently, there are laws that make gambling debts uncollectable.

Talk about a blow to the credit card companies and the online casinos.

Even real world casinos can have trouble collecting gambling debts run up on credit cards.

But most people are not aware of these laws and make good on their debts without a problem.

Now compulsive gamblers can get their fix sitting at home and not have to worry about having the money to pay their debts.

Forget about making that four-hour drive to Laughlin, Nev., or Las Vegas.

That would be bad for the environment and cost you some actual cash.

Now, with the miracle of modern technology, we can sit at home in our underwear, save the planet and still fulfill our urge to flirt with Lady Luck.

No matter how much we bet and lose on our credit cards to online casinos, we may not have to pay.

Though people should be responsible and own up to their debts, nobody is going to side with the credit card companies.

It is unfair that the companies have to pay for their customers' mistakes.

Banning Internet gambling is not the solution. Instead, what if we overturn the laws that prevent collecting gambling debts?

We should force people to have some accountability for their actions and habits.
