Travis delivers with new country album

By Don Weberg
Daily Forty-Niner

The thing that sets Randy Travis apart from other country-western singers is his style.

He has a classic twang in his voice that these songs are meant to have.

CD REVIEW: B

His songs are honest, clean, country music.

He doesn't gussy up the music with a lot of rock 'n' roll hype like other performers in his arena do.

His songs don't need it.

Travis knows country-western music and his latest compact disc, "A Man Ain't Made of Stone" demonstrates his talent well.

Of the 12 songs on the disc, four are fast paced (such as "Little Bitty Crack in Her Heart") while the others are for lonely hearts and lovers ("Family Bible and The Farmer's Almanac.")

Part of the beauty of Travis' CD's are the variety of music that he seems to put into each one.

Some of his songs are heart-filled, tear jerkers while the others are just fun dance hits.

"A Man Ain't Made Of Stone" seems to be one of first albums heard from Travis that is mainly heart-filled tunes.

However, in terms of heart-wrenchers, country-western music is always there to deliver.

And no one can perform quite as well as Travis.  Rest assured, the album will not disappoint but be prepared to have the heart strings played with.
