Students who work full-time can now earn
a master's of business administration in an accelerated program at Cal
State Long Beach that also creates a rich learning environment, said Jack
Gregg, MBA director for the College of Business Administration.
"Industry after industry prefers the MBA,"
Gregg said.
Though other schools offer the same degree
on a three-year track, the CSULB business college offers the degree after
two years of year-round Saturday classes, he said.
Classes in the Fully Employed MBA program
are limited to 25 students who compose "teams" that will stay together
throughout the two-year period.
The first learning team began in January
and was followed by the second team this fall. A third team will begin
in fall of 2000.
Students in the program are full-time professionals
in diverse fields, looking for an extra edge in the business world, Gregg
said.
The program, he said, is open to students
with at least three years experience in corporate management.
MBA degrees are in high demand and can
be as necessary to competing in the business world as a high school diploma
is to the trade field, Gregg said.
About 125,000 MBAs are awarded each year,
Gregg said, making it a staple of the corporate management world.
The college offers the degree for $22,000
a year, including books, Gregg said.
That price is far less than the cost at
most other schools, such as UCI and UCLA, he said.
The CSULB business program is accredited
by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business.
About 25 percent of business schools are
accredited with the business assembly, he said. |
