The Long Beach State club hockey team split
a pair of games last weekend, moving its record to 4-3.
On Friday night, the 49ers had their second
meeting of the season against Cal State Northridge.
LBSU won the first meeting on Oct. 23 by
a score of 6-4.
Northridge set the tone early, scoring
the first two goals.
"It was a really slow game, very chippy
and physical," 49er goalie Donavon Trumble said.
The 49ers scored four unanswered goals
to take a 4-2 lead and won the game 4-3.
The 49ers hosted San Diego State Saturday
night at the Westminster Ice Palace.
The game was also the second meeting for
the teams.
The 49ers won the first game on Oct. 30
by a score of 8-4.
The Aztecs wasted no time, building a 3-0
lead before the 49ers managed to score in the second period.
Tony Mutalipassi scored the only goal of
the game for the 49ers.
"The puck wasn't bouncing our way," Trumble
said.
The 49ers had some legitimate scoring opportunities,
posting 28 shots on goal.
However, the Aztecs effectively shut down
the 49er offense for the rest of the game and won easily, 6-1.
The 49ers' next game is against USC on
Dec. 4 at the Westminster Ice Palace. |
