Although Thursday night's game was only
an exhibition, the Long Beach State women's basketball team showed it still
has improvements to make before the regular season starts Saturday.
After a three-hour contest at The Pyramid,
in which both sides fiercely fought for the lead, the 49er' defense fell
apart at the end of double overtime and lost to SBC Prerov, 101-94.
"We didn't come ready to play," Head Coach
Dallas Boychuck-Bolla said.
"We have to play better without fouling."
Indeed, the 49ers had problems in that
category, allowing Prerov 51 free throw attempts throughout the game, of
which 38 they made.
Guard Petra Prochazkova scored a game-high
39 points in 47 minutes of play for the Slovakian team.
"To have one player score 39 points is
ridiculous," Boychuck-Bolla said after the game.
"I was disappointed in our defense."
Prerov shot better than 75 percent for
the night, making 38 of its 50 shot attempts. |
