Thefts too much for cops

What do the University Police do when it can't solve a crime?

It asks the campus at large to help make the collar.

Ken Hanson

That is what is happening with the rash of auto burglaries and auto thefts.

The police are asking that students and staff call the campus police if they see anything suspicious in the parking lots.

Police blame the increase in auto-related crimes on the high number of students on campus.

That theory does make sense. If a campus around 30,000 students, that means a lot of cars to burglarize.

We know the police are doing the best they can.

Admittedly, they cannot be in all places all the time. That's fine.

We know they are not super cops.

Why not take the department's advice and not be a target?

There is more to these crimes than just the number of people on campus.
