Hard work brings concert to Pyramid
Try writing your opinion articles on things
that matter to students, not subjects like food & sex and male identity
issues. Are these subjects really that important to you?
And why don't you try giving the producers
of Beach Blast '99 credit for getting a band to play In The Pyramid, instead
of making them look bad for their efforts? Not only did the producers of
Beach Blast '99 have a low budget to work with, but they also had to deal
with bands that were full of themselves.
Rage Against the Machine proclaims they're
against capitalism, but they refused to play for Cal State Long Beach because
Associated Students Inc. did not offer enough money. Do you really think
we would have profited $85,000 off of Blink 182 and Sugar Ray?
Take that into consideration before you
cut down the work of the producers of Beach Blast '99. Unless you've tried
putting on a show with an $85,000 budget that's supposed to include bands,
security and insurance, don't open your mouth. It's not an easy job, but
I guess it's easier to sit behind a keyboard and say so.
This concert isn't for the producers; it's
to promote The Pyramid, Cal State Long Beach, and for the morale of the
students during midterms.
It would be ironic if you were in the crowd
tonight promoting Beach Blast '99. I hope you won't be there, but I guess
the media is always looking for someone or something to trash.
