It's all over.

The 1999 regular season for the Long Beach State women's soccer team has come to a close.

The 49ers finished 7-13 after splitting a pair of games this weekend.

LBSU spent the weekend in Utah.

The 49ers were shut out Thursday by Brigham Young University 4-0 but battled back to win their last game against the University of Utah 1-0.

The 49ers upset the Mountain West co-champion University of Utah on Sunday afternoon.

Last year, 49er sophomore forward Kelli Barrett was the leading scorer with eight goals to end the season.

This year, Barrett's only goal of the season came at the right time and the right place.

Barrett scored an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute to win the game.

49er goalkeeper Jihan Elgazzar had eleven saves in the season finale.

No. 23 Brigham Young University crushed the 49ers 4-0 in Thursday's game.

The Cougars stunned the 49ers with three goals in the first half. Sarah Higham scored seven minutes into the game from a cross volley pass by Kim Lowe.

BYU's Sara Reading had two goals to end the second half.

Her first goal came at the 11-minute, 47-second mark of the match, assisted by Karen Wundreli.

Two minutes later, the duo scored again, leaving the 49ers in awe.

The final goal of the game came at the 53:18 mark. Cougar Maren Hendershot teamed up with Reading to score the final goal.

The Cougars held a large advantage on shots on goal, firing 33 shots to LBSU's 7.

The 49ers ended their season with seven wins and are tied for third in the Big West Conference (4-5).

The remaining games for the 49ers will take place at the conference tournament. LBSU battles UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton Nov. 5.

If Irvine wins, the 49ers will tie with Pacific and Utah State for fourth place.

A win over Cal State Fullerton would give the 49ers a third-place tie in the conference.

Nevertheless, the 49ers will finish higher in the conference than last year's sixth-place performance.
