The Cramps shine musically despite age

LOS ANGELES -- It was two nights of wall-to-wall,
leather clad, sequined bodies when rock-a-billy punk band The Cramps played
the House of Blues.
Four wrinkled idols in heels and tight,
black glam costumes took the stage last week.
For three old guys and their ancient relic
of a female guitarist, Poison Ivy, The Cramps tore down the house.
The first night saw the band perform the
songs that made The Cramps cult classics: "Creature from the Black Leather
Lagoon," "Bikini Girls with Machine Guns."
On the second night, The Cramps played
a blistering set of newer songs, like "Cramp Your Style" with a sprinkling
of oldies, like "Shortenin' Bread."
Singer Lux Interior did the usual microphone
stand contortions, though they must not let him break them in half anymore. |
