Travelers will have another option for
that weekend Las Vegas trip beginning next week, when a new airline sets
up shop at Long Beach Airport.
Fresno-based Allegiant Air announced it
will offer three flights each day from Long Beach to Las Vegas starting
Nov. 5. One round-trip flight will be offered on Saturdays.
"I always fly," said university employee
Eric Murakami. "Driving is such a pain."
One-way ticket prices will start at $39
for coach and $79 for first class. These prices will only be good through
November, excluding Thanksgiving weekend.
"That's a great deal," said Murakami, who
said round-trip tickets usually cost him about $120. Murakami said he travels
to Las Vegas up to five times a year.
Industrial design major Dana Parnell did
not share Murakami's enthusiasm.
"I don't visit Las Vegas that much," Parnell
said. "I don't know anyone in a hurry to get to Las Vegas."
Allegiant Air Chairman Mitchell Allee said
his company was looking forward to serving Long Beach.
"We know that our customers will enjoy
the true convenience only Long Beach Airport can offer," Allee said.
The airline will use DC-9-51 planes, which
can hold up to 115 passengers, for the Long Beach-Las Vegas route. |
